Balfron PomPom Blossom Festival
As
part of the inaugural FABFEST! in Balfron, Stirlingshire in June 2013, the
Balfron PomPom Blossom Festival is going to cover the village in hand-crafted
pompoms. The brain child of artist,
Gillian Cooper, these pompoms large and
small are going to be hung from trees and transform the village into a
multi-coloured sensory experience. Each
pompom will have a little tag attached with the maker’s name and website/email
and also a single word, supplied by the maker and will be photographed and
added to this PomPom Festival blog. The PomPoms will be big and small; made
traditionally from wool or from other materials. Some of the PomPoms will also
be made in a less literal way and be some kind of hanging to be suspended from
a tree.
We
need YOU to help. We need hundreds, no
thousands, of pompoms to make this a stunning visual experience. PLEASE MAKE US A POMPOM! Please send as many PomPoms as you can to:
Balfron PomPom Blossom Festival, 21 Greek Thomson Road, Balfron G63 0RE.
Donations of wool will also be gratefully received! Everyone who takes part
will be acknowledged on our blog. If you
enclose a SAE we will try to return the PomPom at the end of the Festival in
July 2013. If you don’t want your PomPom
returned, we will auction it later in the year to raise money for other arts
projects run by FAB Arts.
If
PomPom making is a distant memory for you, we have PomPom kits with full
instructions for £5, alternatively you can sponsor a PomPom and still be part
of the Festival.
FABFEST!
and the Balfron PomPom Blossom Festival are being run by FAB Arts, a grassroots
not-for-profit arts group based in Balfron, rural West Stirlingshire.
